"I think even if you have the grades to go straight into University, I would probably still recommend to go to college first. I feel it is just more of a stepping stone, like a bridge towards University."

Years 1 & 2: HND Mechanical Engineering
Years 3 & 4: BEng & MEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering
Currently: Engineer at Apollo Offshore Engineering

Why did you choose the Degree Link Route?

I hadn't really heard of it before, but the more I looked into it the more I thought it would be a great idea because the type of engineering career I wanted to pursue was focussed on design and analysis work as opposed to being in a workshop or using your hands. It was great having the 2 years at College then 2 years at RGU to give a broad perspective of learning styles and locations.

What has been the best thing about the experience?

I think just meeting new people. You have a group of friends at College and the majority of them also went on to study at University which meant you already had some friendly faces you knew when you started at RGU.

What's the best thing about studying at NESCol?

The best thing was probably the sizes of the classes which were a lot smaller with only around 13 people in my class so it was a much more one–to–one style of learning and felt more interactive with the lecturer, meaning there were plenty of opportunities to ask questions and get lots of feedback from what you were doing.

What's the best thing about studying at RGU?

I would say the facilities as the school of engineering is based in the Sir Ian Wood Building and everything is so modern. All of the computers are up–to–date with the latest software that is being used out in the industry. I also really like the lecturers here. They are so knowledgeable and really helpful.

Would you recommend Degree Link to other students? Why?

I would. I think even if you have the grades to go straight into University, I would probably still recommend to go to college first. I feel it is just more of a stepping stone, like a bridge towards University. I've managed to secure a job at Apollo OE with thanks to Degree Link.
