Student support

Students of RGU are provided with plenty of support to help them to make most of life at Robert Gordon University.

North East Scotland College students who have signed up to be an Associate Student of RGU can take advantage of a range of services available at the University.

The Study Support team provide free and confidential support in a variety of study skills, ensuring you are able to fulfil your academic potential and become confident, independent learners. This team also provide assistance with exam preparation, English for non-native speakers and tackling coursework assignment to name a few examples. Associate Students also benefit from an ongoing communication with the University and designated visits to RGU during which they can see the campus and meet the lecturers.

All students making the transition from College to University will also be invited to attend an Orientation session. This is a half–day programme during the Induction Week in September and covers essential study skills for University, library induction and an introduction to CampusMoodle.

When students start studying at RGU, they will benefit from additional support including:

  • The Student Help Point — in the Ishbel Gordon Building — is a one–stop shop for all non–academic queries, support and advice. The dedicated staff can help students with matters ranging from travel to tuition fees, accommodation, filling out various forms, finance or free–time activities.
  • An Employability Hub which provides a full range of services designed to meet students' individual career planning, job search and employability needs.
  • Our Access and Articulation Team also proactively support any students who may come from a Care Experienced background as well as students who may come from one of the 20% most deprived areas in Scotland.
  • The Inclusion Team aims to make RGU's learning environment accessible to everyone, as well as help students with specific support needs.

Further services available to students include the Chaplaincy, Treehouse Early Care and Education Centre, Counselling and International Student Advice, Visa and Immigration Service among others.
